Augmented Reality (AR) is a digital technique that allows you to overlay digital content onto a real-life, scene or image. With the constant evolution of smart phones, apps and screen technology, AR is being used more and more in everyday scenarios, for both professional and entertainment purposes.
Virtual Reality (VR) is the opposite of AR. This is a digital technique where a user can transport themselves into an entirely new world or digitally created location. This is often used in conjunction with an audio/visual headset to allow the user a full sensory experience of the 360˚ the digital world. Pioneered originally for the gaming industry, this technology is rapidly being used in many industries to allow a digital 'walk through' of a concept before committing to a real world build or construction. BBC 2's home design TV series 'Your Home Made Perfect' is a great, recent example of how designers from all industries are starting to use this type of technology.
At Limbo Tech, we are using both of these technologies more and more for the arts and entertainment and more commercially focused projects. Please get in touch to discuss how we can make AR and VR work for your business.
Augmented Reality in action ... Working in partnership with Signals and the team at Colchester Business Improvement Development (BID) we devised a Christmas AR solution that enabled festive shoppers to become animated Christmas characters in a Colchester shop window. The brief behind this project was to create a fun and interactive Christmas event that would encourage more families (and grown ups!) to enjoy their Christmas shopping trip to the High Street.
This type of AR can be designed and built bespoke to a character or retail message entirely unique to your business, to create a specific seasonal message or retail promotion.
The technology and application of VR is very much in its infancy. We predict that as the technology becomes more accessible and cost effective solutions come to market, like our Limbo Tech offer, the applications are infinite. We would like to hear from you about your project and how VR could bring your project to life.
